Single Origin Coffee
Coffee labeled as "single origin" or "single source", means it's from a single farmer, a single country, a single region, crop, or producer. Therefore the beans take on the characteristics of their place of origin. That is called terroir. Terroir refers to how the climate, soil, and terrain of a region impacts the coffee grown there. For example, coffee beans grown on the same lot as banana trees will carry a banana essence, and coffee beans grown by the sea may have a pleasant salinity.
